A NATURAL PROTEIN COULD BE USEFUL TO STOP THE PROGRESSION OF NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES

In a recently published study, it was formulated that a type of protein that helps cells respond to the heat, cold or other stressing forms within the environment, could be useful to stop the progression of neurodegenerative illnesses as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease or Huntington Chorea.

The authors successfully used one of these proteins – Hsp27 – to reduce death cells in animal brains. Mice were manipulated to present high levels of Hsp27 in the brain, spinal cord and other tissues which presented lower death rates and brain cellular death after having shots of a toxic substance that harms the brain
