CIREN’s
creation, development and consolidating process, is closely linked
with investigations in the field of neurosciences.
The advances obtained at CIREN
in the application of investigative results, have made possible
the widening of such branches of neurology under study and investigation
as well as the consolidation and development of the clinical section.
At CIREN there are 3 experimental
investigation groups dedicated to the study of:
BRAIN AGEING AND ALZHEIMER
DISEASE
Studies with physiologically
aged animals (rodents and non-human primates).
Studies on animal models with a cognitive deficit and different
types of lesions on nuclei or cholinergic innervation vias to
the hippocampus and cortex from anterior basal brain.
ABNORMAL MOVEMENTS AND
PHYSIOPATHOLOGIES OF THE BASAL GANGLIA
Models of Parkinson’s Disease
on rats by means of 6-0HOA and non-human primates by unilateral
and bilateral MPTP
NEUROTROPHIC FACTORS
Characterization of the
Nervous Growth Factor (NGF) of murine origin.
NGF Biologic activity tests
NGF pharmacological effects
on experimental models with lesions in the nervous and peripheric
nervous central system
The Center has labs
for all these investigations.
