Biomodels
Creation and conductual evaluation of experimental models by motor and cognitive multiple evaluation battery tests. It works on parkinsonian rats with 60HDA and bilateral parkinsonism in non-human primates with MPTP.

Multiple animal models of neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson’s, Huntington Chorea and Alzheimer) are developed and validated, thus characterizing the activity of different structures within neuronal circuitries involved in these diseases; the effect of lesions and possibles approach as a the therapeutic target. Neurobiologic bases of brain ageing are approached; also evidences of functional plasticity in the aged brain as well as its impact as to the adapting success from the cognitive and motor points of view.

It has variable complex batteries for the study and evaluation of such referred models of the motor activity; sensorimotor coordination; sensorial exploration, as well as different cognitive demains in rodents and non human primates with neurotoxic lesions or naturally aged. The forementioned allows the rigorous evaluation of non-conventional restorative procedures among which are cellular replacement therapy (different cellular sources), neurotrophic therapy; induction of the neurogenesis through thehandling of environmental conditions, training and exercise. As part of the pre-clinical validation process, studies of correlation aided by other brain microdyalisis laboratories are conducted, as well as others on oxidative stress, levels of neurotrophins, inmunologic profile, expressions of receptors, neurotrophins, enzymes, etc, with the use of molecular biology techniques, morphology, etc.
