For a more accurate exploration of the smallest and most complex
structures of the Central Nervous System CIREN has state-of-the-art
RMNf equipment (SIEMENS-Magnetom Symphony; 1.5 T) which has broadened
the horizons in research on Parkinson's disease, normal ageing
and other areas of work within the Centre. Functional RMN has
as its immediate goals research on basal ganglions and neuroplastic
mechanisms underlying the restoration of cerebral functions.
This department also has a (SIEMENS-SOMATON
AR. STAR) Helicoidal Computerised Axial Tomography (AT) which
has wide-ranging use in the radio diagnosis of neurological pathologies
and other associated conditions. Its use in research has provided
complementary date in clinical tests being carried out in different
investigative projects.
